Self Description:

“Family Group” are young artists and friends who have been meeting bi-yearly since 2018 to produce artwork in the guise of experimental installations. They celebrate their failures in German culture, recycle traditional aesthetics, and rediscover familiar encounters within them - Queer, deviant and sexy.

Room concept:

As soon as you enter, it becomes clear that this is not a conventional exhibition. After a short wait and a stamp at the door, the visitors are invited into our living room. Does it remind you of an underground rave scene, or rather the quirky sofa landscape à la ‘Bienenstich’ and a warm beer at halftime?

In the first part of the room is the archive, the documentation of the last few years. These works are by-products of past encounters. Shameless photographs, collected artifacts, and creative examinations of the process preserved under glass.

From the museum situation, the visitors stumble into the current, the set that makes the archive come to life. The installation invites you to dive in, explore, and discover. With a donation in the €2 coin-operated machine at the entrance, each purchase will shine more detail on the colorful-flashing-capitalist-kitsch-spectacle! Consumer dreams come true!

With German punctuality, we document the scenery and visitors every hour on the hour, thus breaking the seemingly clear role allocation of who is watching and who is being watched. Visitors are encouraged to see themselves as performers and part of the installation.

You can now throw yourself into the pillows to relax. The last part of the room remains open; for getting to know each other, exchanging ideas and just hanging around. Speed dating without an egg timer.
